Our bowling tournament June 2-4, 2006
|
After driving for 4 hours, we're finally crossing over the State Line. But alas, Las Vegas is still another 35 minutes away. |
Sam's Town Casino where our bowling tournament was held. This was the first time we've stayed here. The pool was very nice - we went swimming at 9:00pm Saturday and it was still 98 degrees outside. Talk about HOT!! They had an indoor water & laser light show which the kids really enjoyed.
|
Dwayne throwing his ball during our bowling tournament Saturday. The lanes were VERY nice. Better than the ones back at home. I bowled so well, that I took 7th place in Women's, 9th in mixed doubles and 8th in Women's doubles. And walked away with $81.00 in prize money. :0) Dwayne got 14th place in men's. Not to bad for his first year bowling. There were 98 people in the tournament. A really nice turnout. It was such a blast!!! |
LUCKY Dwayne playing the dollar machine. He hit it for $640.00. See those 2 Double Diamonds? If he'd hit 1 more instead of that stupid 7...lol - he'd of won the Progressive Jackpot!!! We were both so excited to win something. The machine's seemed a little tight. I stick to the quarter machines - I'm not as brave as he is. Did I win anything? A whole $22.25. Lady luck was not on my side this trip. |
Taking a drive down the strip on the way back from the bead show. This is the Bellagio. We didn't get a chance to go inside. I hear they have a gorgeous glass ceiling that's magnificent!! Maybe next time. |

Heading back home Sunday... crossing over the California State Line.
|
The longest stretch of the trip is 183 miles across the California Desert. Not a place you'd want to have car trouble. |
This is about all you see, except for the occasional small town, which consists of a gas station or 2 and maybe some place to get a bite to eat. |
The gateway to Death Valley and the home of the World's Tallest Thermometer. |
The town's most prominent feature is a 134-foot Thermometer. This is where we stopped for lunch on the way home. And just in case you were saying, it was hot where you were this weekend... It was wicked hot there at 117 degrees. We had to run Grandma in & out of the restaurant. I was so afraid she'd get heatstoke in just the 2 minutes it took us to get her inside.
The hottest temperature ever recorded in the United States was in nearby Death Valley in 1913 it hit 134 degrees. That's crazy HOT!! I don't know how anyone could live here??? I'd melt that's for sure!! |
We made it home safe & sound at 6:30pm on Sunday. After a 4 1/2 hour drive - 270 miles away. We're very happy to be home. It was only 90 degrees- no complaints here!!...lol And we took a very refreshing dip in our pool.
What a great trip!! | |

The Hot Glass show
We watched the guy in the red shirt, make a vase. In the picture he is blowing into the end of the pipe to form big bubble in the glass. Then he took a big pair of scissors and cut a hole open at the end, spun it around in the air. Viola a vase right before our eyes. It was incredible. |

Me in the Flameworking Live booth. I asked the instructor how to make a rose and he invited me in the booth. I got my very own personal tutorial. What an awesome experience! |

Family Picnic at Delta Lake in New York
Grandma & Grandpa made marshmallow shooters for all the grandkids. They had a blast shooting them at each other. Dwayne and Jordan have matching orange swim trunks. Madison is standing in front of daddy. In the red shirt is Ken, my brother-in-law. He and his family live in Conn. |

Madison eating cake at Grandma's and Grandpa's house. She has it all over her face. She LOVES cake! |

Jordan's exhibition game last Sunday. He's in goal. Jordan's team won 18 - 7. It was really hard to get a good picture. The camera kept focusing on the net. |

Remember when I told you we went shopping last week...This is one of the outfits Madison got.The shirt says "Sweet" with candy corns all around it, shaped in a heart. Isn't it cute? Don't stare at the pants to hard, or you'll go cross eyed! hahaha Her hair is blowing in the wind. It's so windy today! |
